BRECKSVILLE, Ohio — A major milestone was marked last week at the mixed-use development Valor Acres.
Construction workers celebrated a topping-off with the placement of the final steel beam for Sherwin-Williams Co.’s new roughly $250 million Global Research and Development Center.
“It’s a milestone in the project directing attention to the interior finishings and exterior site work — all culminating in the grand opening of the facility,” Mayor Jerry Hruby said.
Started in late 2021, construction of the 600,000-square-foot facility — future home to chemists, engineers, technicians and support teams supporting product development, coatings research, color technology and process engineering — is expected to be completed next year.
“The Sherwin-Williams Global Research and Development Center at Valor Acres will provide jobs and income to the region and enhances the already fine reputation of our city,” Hruby said.
“It will be a magnet for future development to come to Valor Acres and the future growth of Sherwin-Williams and our business community. We’re fortunate as a community to see this global company become part of our city and the benefits it brings to our future.”
The final beam — bearing the signatures of more than 400 construction workers, supervisors, project architects, engineers and designers, as well as local elected officials — was adorned with an American flag and an evergreen tree.
